Silvy’s Gusti E Sapori, Middelburg

Fantastic hidden gem on the outskirts of Middleburg. We discovered this Authentic Sardinian restaurant and were so pleased we did! Outstanding food with excellent service by the charming hostess Silvy, who described the dishes to us with passion. We were so indecisive in our choice of starters that Silvy suggested a sharing platter of everything on the menu. This included smoked salmon, prawns, octopus , meat, cheese, olives, and the most delicious Sardinian gnocchi (made with Semolina), olive tapenade with artisan breads and mussels. We all had variations of delicious home-made pasta following recipes that were Silvy’s. These included home-made tagliatelle flavoured with squid ink and Prawns; a pesto Siciliano and a tomato pasta with traditional sausage. I had the most exquisite home-made ravioli filled with squash cooked in a sage butter sauce with spinach. Silvy was so very charming and suggested we finish our delicious meal with traditional Sardinian complimentary digestifs. If you are in Middelburg you really must visit this lovely restaurant- it really is a hidden gem!

First of all, this was the first time we have visited this place. We expected out-of-range prices, but it was actually pretty fitting. The pasta seemed to be the specialty although the mussel soup was excellent. Furthermore, there was nothing to criticize about either the service nor the ambiente, so naturally: This is a five-star.

We love Italian food and we made a beeline for Silvy’s on this second night in Middelburg. Meeting her was a pleasure, and enjoying her hospitality and eating such good food from her Sardinian background was a pleasurable moment on our trip to the Netherlands. Both the pizza and the pasta that we had were really very good. A little off the central square, it’s a good spot for a quiet meal and then a well-timed walk around the town as the lights dim. Recommended!

We visited this Resturant on the last night of our holiday, and I wish We. had visited before. The pasta dishes were lovely, the dessert ‘ seada’ was so different ( recommend) and the host was so accommodating and welcoming. A truly lovely and most def authentic Sardinian Resturant.

Great fish starters and amazing homemade pasta (typical from Sardinia, with fish, classical Italian). Wine of house is good (the red is valid for both fish and meat, the white perfect for fish). Relaxed atmosphere. A real Italian restaurant.

As a sardinian visiting I had to try this place! The hotel were I was staying recommend it to me as a great Italian. So I booked and here I was back home for an hour or so! Home made pasta (carciofi e bottarga) antipasti (best octopus salad and the sardinian sausage! Yum) plus pai carrasau! Also ordered a seadas + mirto! All washed die with a Monica (red wine) Service is efficient they always have daily specials. Very welcoming! Recommend!wish I had more time to try out more dishes!

While there are many restaurants in Middelburg, this little gem may indeed be the best. The specials are just that and the food is prepared with great attention to detail. Prices are accessible and the atmosphere is of a small family run restaurant of the type you might expect in a remote Sardinian village.
