Restaurant Glaswerk, The Hague

In general, I like to write about star restaurants, but sometimes one is so special that I feel the need to share it, including about this restaurant. Hidden behind business park De Binckhorst in The Hague in a cute mini harbor you can find restaurant Glaswerk (glassware). I ended up there with good friends (also in hospitality) who had already told us that the food was brilliant, for me this evening was so nice that I decided to come back with my camera so I could write about this true hidden gem in The Hague. Glaswerk is a building on which a piece of greenhouse has been built and it has a significantly large terrace. The interior is contemporary and cosy, with many plants and natural tones being the main focus. Chef Martijn Lagrand provides the most delicious dishes while his wife Rosalie Brand as the hostess takes perfect care of the guests. he day of our lunch the weather is beautiful, so a place on the terrace has been reserved. I got there just before opening time so I could take some pictures and now say yourself; the tables look chic without being stiff and they are very cosy. It is going to be wonderful to spend time right on the waterside. My guest arrives and together we take a look at the wine list. We opt for the Meursault, a French chardonnay from 2017. What strikes us is that this wine on the list is only €90 and goes far above €200 in every star restaurant. We can’t help but ask and Rosalie is so kind to explain it; the fixed surcharge on wine allows consumers to drink very good wines for a reasonable price. What a party! At Glaswerk you have lunch or dinner according to the ‘shared dining’ principle. Small dishes that you can share together. We chose 4 of them so we could also have some cheese and dessert. *please see the pictures of dishes and read my opinion about them; or go to my website to read the full review. My advice anywhere near The Hague; make a stop here. Well….. if you are able to get a table! Being fully booked is not for no reason. You will be delighted! Mark my words!

we were impressed by the quality and complexity of the dishes, each one of which was an artwork in itself. very intense flavors. Note that the portions are small, which encourages sharing but also means you have to order a lot. The mini tuna steak was subtle and powerful; and the curry mussels are especially great. Also the smoked salmon on brioche. Delicious! also a great wine-list. They were a bit understaffed so that the service was slow, but they were so friendly we didn’t mind one bit.

We had a wonderful dinner. Well composed menu, exciting combo’s and superb flavours all in a relaxing environment. We asked for spoons to get all the sauce!! Rich wine list. Friendly staff, easy on the bill. Recommend to go there.

Just perfect. Nice ambiance. Nice people. Good food. Did the 5 course surprise menu. Would recommend this place for sure.

The location is lovely. Water and trees around. The building and the interior decoration are charming. The food is absolutely delicious. Good ingredients used with a lot of precision. Fish and meat cooked to perfection. Very satisfying combinations. A special mention to the bread and butter. Long time we did not have such a fantastic bread. We look forward to coming back. We really do.

Just came back from this restaurant and still am amazed by the 3 course meal and wine selection we had. All the products used were of quality and prepared to perfection by passionate and welcoming people. I highly recommend this lovely place!!!

Located at the Binckhorst, with views over the Vliet, it is a nice little gem with marvelous food. Particularly the smoked mussels and sea bass was amazing.

I visited this restaurant with my best buddy for a bite to eat the other day and was not only pleasantly surprised by the original dishes but also the excellent staff. So I made reservations for this weekend with my gf. The chef loves to experiment with ingredients that seem odd combo’s but actually work wonders with the pallet. Looking forward to next visit.

Whenever I’m at Glaswerk I feel like I’m on a mini-vacation. It’s the best place to enjoy a glas of wine and some oysters by the water. Together with loved ones or lounging with a nice book it’s always a pleasure to be here. The food is exquisite and the staff is nice. Tip: Also a great location for a party.
