A charming evening

I will start this review by saying this, I have had the occasion to eat in some of the fines restaurants in the world, so I rank on a scale of those other experiences I LOVED this place. I would rank the dinner we had here as one of the best I have ever had. The food was very good (remember, I my disclaimer, very good is REALLY good), but the other all experience was tremendous. It is a small, intimate place set in the half basement of a building. In fact, I had a little bit of a problem seeing it, until I was right on top of it. The decor is quaint and charming. Travel posters of the South of France and other such memorabilia. The food was honest, and delicious. The menu was entirely French cuisine, and it changes seasonally, which it should. The wine list was small but well stocked with multiple varietals. The service was prompt but it was not in your face. And the owner, well, he was the star of the show The owner of this fine establishment is a gregarious, out going man who clearly loves what he does. He treated us as valued guests from the moment we sat down, to moment we left. He personally came over and described the dishes that would be prepared for us, and then, after asking permission to do so, selected the wine for each appetizer, main course, and desert course. And I have to say, he was spot on with each selection. The experience of that evening ranks as one of my best dining history If I ever get the opportunity to get back to Amsterdam, I will absolutely eat here again

WOW - the authentic French experience!

We were told about this restaurant by friends and I booked it well in advance (necessary) to make sure we would not be disappointed. We had a wonderful evening, full of bonhomie, great food and delicious wine. I am still dreaming about the boned quail stuffed with veal! A wonderful experience for an acceptable price.

Enjoyable evening

We enjoyed our meal here very much. We don’t speak a lot of French (and even less Dutch), but the owner walked us through the menu posted on the wall and we were happy with our choices. This seems like the kind of place where you go when you want the meal to be your entertainment for the evening. The staff was friendly and attentive. The owner also helped us with our wine choices. This feels like a family run place that heavily features the personality of the owner. As long as you are easy going and enjoy French food, I’d say this is a good choice.
