Treasure of Brugge

When you ring the doorbell to enter, a lovely smiling barefooted woman comes to let you in. This is Lynn, tour hostess. You don’t know it yet, but you soon realize that she’s going to do everything in her power to make your visit absolutely wonderful and unique. It starts right then, when she invites you in for a wonderful cup of tea and a freshly baked treat. The ambiance and the scent of Huis Koning is welcoming and wonderful. We take our civilized tea on the back patio, on the canal while beautiful swans and one ugly duck floats by. Lynn informs us that this is the ugliest duck in Brugge and we laugh and agree. Lynn proceeds to give us books and maps on Brugge and spends about 30 minutes marking off the most wonderful places to visit and eat. She also calls several restaurants for us and secures dinner reservations for us, which was not easy because the marathon was happening unbeknownst to us. After tea, Lynn brings us to the room, which is immaculate and just as welcoming as the home. There are two of the most delicious sweet muffins waiting for us, which we realize is another wonderful amenity called the “daily treat”. What a treat it is! So delicious! The next night, our Daily Treat is a most delicious chocolate mousses that we down along with a bottle of red wine. Now the breakfast! OMG, how glorious is that! All the things I love and two mimi loaves of homemade bread that are incredibly delicious. Lynn cooks us our egg of choice and we eat it along with the ham, jams and other countless delicacies that are provided. I could go on forever, but suffice it to say this is the best B&B I’ve ever been in and Lynn is truly the Treasure of Brugge!

Best B&B we’ve ever stayed in

Rarely write reviews - and Huis Koning certainly doesn’t need mine. But it’s also rare than after 40 years of quite intensive travelling you are still surprised. Stunning location with a beautiful terrace on a quiet canal - this alone is worth the stay. The room designed with taste, love and a sense of detail that I haven’t come across often. The breakfeast is delicious. And your host, Lynn, the person who has created this great place, is genuinely friendly and good to talk to. For a moment of agreable immersion in Brugge, and slow, long-lasting beauty, it doesn’t get better than this place. A moment of happiness in Covid times....We will be back!

A gem of a place.

It’s terrific in every way. The host is genuinely friendly and helpful. It’s a beautiful place, great location too. Breakfast was very healthy and almost everything was homemade. We’ll come back again.

Great B&B, quiet but near city centre!

A great place to stay! Very warm welcome of the host ! Clean, cosy place with a fantastic breakfast included. Highly recommended also for its location. Plenty take away options nearby during Corona pandemic.
