Very good!

Had dinner with family and friends. Very very good. Family runner restaurant where Dad stands in the open kitchen, Mom runs the show and knows her wines????, son helps Dad, all very nicely done. Food was very good too!

Amazing!

Before globalisation life was a lot simpler: you could be almost sure to get a fine dinner in Italy and France, wheareas you could almost be as sure to get a lousy one in Holland. Luckily for the Dutch (I should call them Frisians up there) your chances of finding an excellent restaurant in this part of the country are pretty high. We stayed at the Weidumerhout hotel, 1 km away from the « vijf sinnen », so we could walk to the restaurant. We were truly amazed by the quality of the cuisine and by the friendliness and generosity of the owners. Top notch cooking cannot be dead cheap, but the price level for wines and food is very reasonable. They have a funny way of organizing dinners: instead of being limited by one or two set menues, you can compose your selection of dishes « as you please »: the more dishes you order, the cheaper it gets (relatively speaking, of course). Would definitely go back if I return to the area.

Hear Feel Smell Taste

Located in a small village where you would not expect this little gem. The words in the title are on the counter of the open kitchen. As soon as you’re welcomed by host Danielle you can feel right at home. In a relatively small and cozy setting, there is a lot of attention to guests, without being intrusive. Chef Kevin is definitely not working in auto-pilot mode. The servings show he keeps experimenting with ingredients to get something special on your plate. Personally, I love to taste individual ingredients in a dish, and the chef delivers every time. It would be a spoiler to tell everything of what you can expect. It is best to experience it for yourself. Quality does not come cheap, the staff brings everything together in a very enjoyable package. Take your time and let yourself in for a treat.

We are regular guests. Charming Danielle is the perfect host, her husband Kevin an inspiring British masterchef. Good original wines, all is affordable. Charming place just South of Leeuwarden.

One of the finest restaurant of the region

This restaurant is worthwhile the extra trip when you are looking for a place to dine in the region of Leeuwarden. It’s located in a small village near Leeuwarden and you probably won’t find it by accident. The food is delicious and very exquise. The atmosphere is charming and personal. Meat, fish or vegetarian, you will enjoy a wonderful evening here.

amazing experience - food, setting and service were great

I was taken here by some locals we were visiting on a work trip... and we were all impressed! They had a delicious mix of tradiitonal and modern dishes. the quality of the ingredients was top notch and the décor is beautiful. Overall, a wonderful dining experience!
